Abstract

Constant envelope orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CE-OFDM) greatly reduces the peak-to-average ratio (PAPR) by embedding information into the phases of carriers. However, during the process of wide application, CE-OFDM is faced with a significant obstacle in balancing the bit error rate (BER) performance and bandwidth. To address this challenge, we adopt the approach of combining index modulation (IM) with CE-OFDM to utilize the potential frequency diversity gains, while using low density parity check (LDPC) coding and employing soft desicion to further enhance the BER performance. Simulation results show that the CE-OFDM-IM system with channel coding and soft decision reduces the BER while improving spectral efficiency.
